Recently, Dr. Xiaoli Hong, founder and managing partner of Sunway Law, together with representatives of Sunway Law, visited the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Shanghai, where they held discussions with Ms. Faramela Azania, Consul of Economic Affairs, and other representatives of the Consulate.

The delegation engaged in constructive discussions on topics including China–Indonesia industrial cooperation, Indonesia’s investment environment, localized project implementation, legal and compliance support, and cultural exchange. The meeting also included practical exchanges regarding future communication mechanisms and potential areas of cooperation.

During the meeting, Consul Faramela Azania extended a warm welcome to the Sunway delegation and expressed Indonesia’s support for cooperation with Chinese companies. Following Sunway Law’s introduction of its Indonesia-related projects and the overseas expansion needs of Chinese companies, Consul Azania shared valuable insights and recommendations regarding Indonesia’s investment environment, local cooperation models, industrial development opportunities, and government investment promotion initiatives.

Managing Partner Dr. Hong noted that Indonesia is one of the key markets for Chinese companies pursuing overseas investment, trade cooperation, and industrial collaboration. She emphasized that, in addition to assessing commercial opportunities and project resources, Chinese companies entering the Indonesian market must also develop a comprehensive understanding of the local regulatory framework, industrial environment, business practices, and cultural context. Dr. Hong further stated that Sunway Law hopes to leverage its experience in cross-border legal services, industrial resource coordination, and overseas cooperation networks to support Chinese companies in engaging in China–Indonesia cooperation in a more compliant, stable, and sustainable manner.

The meeting concluded with friendly exchanges on cultural cooperation. Following the meeting, Dr. Hong, on behalf of Sunway Law, presented the Consulate with a gift featuring elements of Dunhuang culture. As an important cultural symbol of the ancient Silk Road, Dunhuang reflects the long history of exchanges between different civilizations. Today, China and Indonesia also share broad opportunities for cooperation across economic, industrial, and cultural fields.

This visit further strengthened communication between Sunway Law and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Shanghai, and laid a solid foundation for Sunway Law’s continued efforts in supporting Chinese companies investing and operating in Indonesia.

Looking ahead, Sunway Law will continue following developments in Indonesia’s investment environment and industrial sectors, while connecting the needs of Chinese companies with local professional and commercial resources. Through legal and compliance support, project coordination, and industrial cooperation, Sunway Law aims to contribute to China–Indonesia economic and cultural exchange.
